Dr. Spear completed his undergraduate work at Western Kentucky University in Bowling Green, Kentucky. He attended the University of Alabama at Birmingham Optometry School and went on to Northeastern State University – College of Optometry in Tahlequah, Oklahoma for his residency.Dr. Spear is a member of the American Academy of Optometry, American Optometric Association, Florida Optometric Association and the Armed Forces Optometric Society. His special appointments include Adjunct Assistant Professor at Northeastern State University College of Optometry and the University of Waterloo School of Optometry.

Dr. Gilbert-Spear is a Board Certified Optometrist and the Director of the Visual Performance Center here in Pensacola, Florida. She completed her undergraduate work at Auburn University. She obtained her Masters in Public Health from the University of Alabama at Birmingham School of Public Health and her Doctorate of Optometry from UAB School of Optometry. She is a member of the American Optometric Association, the Florida Optometric Association, and the American Public Health Association. She has specialized training in all areas of Vision Rehabilitation.

Dr. Suzanne Day has practiced at Gulf Breeze Family Eye Care since August 2005. Since that time she has expanded and moved the practice from its original Bay Bridge location to the Andrews Institute in Gulf Breeze.Prior to her relocation to Gulf Breeze, Dr. Day resided in Southern California where she practiced in a large multi-speciality eye care office. While in California, Dr. Day was the team optometrist for the Anaheim Angels professional baseball team and the Anaheim Ducks professional hockey team. Dr. Day earned her Doctor of Optometry degree from the Southern Califonia College of Optometry in May 2000.Dr. Day currently practices all aspects of optometry including examinations for glasses and contact lenses. She also can diagnose and treat many eye diseases. The practice has state of the art diagnostic medical equipment for the use in her examinations. Dr. Day is expanding her practice to include a visual perfomance center. One aspect of the center diagnoses and treats binocular disorders through the use of vision therapy. The second aspect is designed to enhance the visual performance of all athletes, from professional to child, using specific training techniques. This “Sports Vision” facility will be the first of its kind in the Florida Panhandle and Southern Alabama. |

Sarah L. Neel is the staff Occupational Therapist for the Visual Performance Center and the Low Vision Rehabilitation Program. She graduated from Florida A&M University with a Bachelor’s of Science in Occupational Therapy in 1999. Sarah is licensed in the states of Florida and Alabama. She is board certified with the National Board of Certification in Occupational Therapy. She has over 7 years of experience working with the visually impaired and 12 years of experience in pediatrics. Sarah is a member of the American Occupational Therapy Association and the Florida Occupational Therapy Association. She has specialized training from the most advanced practitioners in the field of low vision and occupational therapy. |
